I’m focussing on holidays that make you feel well and healthy when you return home (as opposed to those where you’ve thoroughly enjoyed the all-inclusive bars LOL). Health and wellbeing holidays can make you feel better in so many ways – spas, yoga retreats, learning skills, taking exercise – all these contribute to a healthy mind and body.
There are hotels with great spas all over the world. Some are located in cities like the Dior Spa at the Hôtel Plaza Athénée in Paris. Others are hard to reach, located in isolated areas like those on islands in the Maldives. When I was in India, we stopped for lunch at a spa resort in the foothills of the Himalayas. Here you have air, clear of pollution, beautiful views and a peaceful location.
So whether you want a quick reviving boost in a city near you, with some sightseeing or a longer break where you can really get away from everything – I’ll find a spa hotel to fit. BTW the food is always delicious in these hotels – hardly a lettuce leaf in sight!
There’s something about escaping to a quiet, offbeat corner of the world, and joining a yoga holiday where you take the time to truly reconnect with yourself, escape from the rush of modern life and the monotony of routine, and sink into a zen world of calm.
My suppliers have got yoga escapes in many locations around the world. From rainforest retreats in Costa Rica, to yoga & detox in Spain, Portugal, Morocco, yoga tours in India or even the UK – come back refreshed and ready to take on the world.
It’s not just spas, gyms, and yoga that can help you feel rejuvenated on holiday. Why not take the opportunity to learn something new or hone a skill?
Fancy trying your hand at portrait painting or mastering watercolours? Perhaps you’d like to explore pottery, macramé, jewellery making, or even perfect your crochet skills?
We all return home with hundreds of holiday snaps, but a photography trip where you pick up a new skill will make them far more memorable!
Or learn to cook or improve your cooking skills in Italy, Greece, France or Portugal – we did this in Italy a few years ago and it was a fabulous time.
If your idea of heaven is to spend time crafting, stitching or knitting – then I think I have the perfect break for you!
Join others who have the same interest, take part in workshops or projects – fully escorted trips, with visits to local workshops and sightseeing.
From 5 half-day knitting workshops in the Faroe Islands, with sightseeing during your free time including visits to local textile designers. To visits to the Swiss Yarn Festival, with workshops and sightseeing. Hand quilting Retreat in Northern Cyprus, with visits to local handicraft organisations as well as some sightseeing.
Patchwork, quilting, crochet, knitting and textiles – if this sounds like you – then get in touch to book a lovely treat!
If this sounds like something you’d like to do – just get in touch with me. Great for solo travellers or groups of friends.
Why not consider activities as part of your next holiday. You can do adrenaline activities like white water rafting, but also more gentle activities like walking or cycling (at your own pace!)
Walking holidays can take many forms – self guided walking (with a map or app), escorted walking, tours, pilgrimages. Similarly with cycling, some destinations also have e-bikes to make your journeys easier. You can combine the two activities and in some destinations, add more activities.
Available throughout Europe – but also in many countries around the world as part of guided groups.
When planning your next holiday, think about how you’d like to feel afterwards. Creating wonderful memories is a must (my phone is full of photos from past trips), but consider whether you’ll feel different, motivated, ready for a change, or excited to explore new interests.
Of course, I know this isn’t always possible – sometimes, all you really want is to splash around in the hotel pool with the kids. But, if you have the chance to focus on yourself, make the most of every moment!
