#touringweek
There are lots of different ways to tour while on holiday. You can be part of an escorted tour by coach or rail. Alternatively you can cruise rivers or the ocean. Car hire is a very easy way to explore a country or area. Today, however, I’m going to look at hiring an RV, motorhome or campervan. They are available to hire in many countries. Styles may vary between countries.
In Europe, you can hire a motorhome in most countries (including the UK). The USA and Canada are popular destinations, as are New Zealand and Australia. But you can also do this in Chile, Argentina and Japan, as well as various southern Africa countries.
Why choose a motorhome holiday? You’ll enjoy the freedom of the road, with all your comforts and possessions around you. No need to search for or prebook a hotel. Sometimes you can park in recognised safe areas (research is needed before you travel though), mostly I’d recommend staying on a campsite. Moreover, you’ll have facilities around you plus you’d be able to link up to power and water.
What’s in the motorhome? Facilities will vary according to the type and country. Vehicles are normally provided with a toilet and shower, kitchen, fridge, heater, cables and plugs, water tanks and rechargeable batteries. Vehicles can sleep up to 7 people usually, with beds in different locations inside.
Is a motorhome holiday for you? If you like flexibility – this is perfect. No need to plan (although I always recommend a certain level of planning). If you like camping, this is for you – freedom without getting wet in a tent. If you want to get away from the crowds – a car or motorhome means you don’t have to follow the crowd. Just remember that you’ll be sharing your bedroom with others!
This is the perfect way to explore a country – you’ll find both locals and other motorhome users are always happy to share things to do and places to visit. I’d always recommend planning your route to make sure you get all your must-sees ticked off and to make sure you’ll get to your finishing point in plenty of time.
