South America is a huge continent, especially if you include Central American countries. You can tour the whole continent, but unless you have weeks available – I’d really suggest concentrating on 1 or 2 countries.
Costa Rica is fabulous for eco-friendly holidays, tropical beaches, volcanoes – both active and dormant. Watch the rainforest as you zip-line through the trees. Maybe good to combine this with a holiday to the USA or Mexico.
Peru has been popular for many years, mainly due to the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu. You can either follow this trail by foot or by rail. While in South America, there is so much more you can add to your trip. Brazil had the Olympics in 2016, but also the Amazon and Iguassu Falls. Bolivia (in easy reach from Peru) has Lake Titicaca.
